King County Arts Ed Data

We are deeply thankful to 4Culture and OSPI for releasing the King County Arts Education Data Dashboard. It puts a number on what we already know to be true: Not all students get art.

It is core. It is required for graduation. And yet one district had 34% students graduate without a single art class. Washington can do better.

We have a team of data interns doing some digging and will have some deeper thoughts to share soon. In the meantime, take a look yourself.

Meanwhile, at ArtsEd Washington…

Do you ever get so busy that you don’t have time to tell folks how busy you are? That’s what’s going on at ArtsEd. We have 6 summer interns working on everything from strategic planning to fundraising. We have 5 new board members. We are working for beans (literally– I’ll tell you more in a second) and we’re expanding our partnerships and outreach north, south, east & west. Let me catch you up!

Bag it Forward
at New Seasons

The staff at the Ballard New Seasons selected ArtsEd Washington as their Bag it Forward partner for their next round of giving.

Starting August 14, customers can choose ArtsEd Washington to receive their 5 cent bag donation(s) by dropping a bean into the jar with our name above it.

So share your beans, get groceries, and support access to the arts all at the same time.

Connecting with Luminous Minds

We have begun working with The Luminous Minds Project to help deepen our work in advocating for students labeled LD/ADHD.

As part of that partnership, last week Living Life Leadership stopped by to learn about data and student advocacy opportunities. We also got to learn more about the barriers to both arts and political involvement students face and are excited to put our newfound knowledge to work.

Meet the Summer Squad

As longtime readers already know, ArtsEd Washington has a (part-time) staff of one.

That might make us officially small, but our team of volunteers do a tremendous amount of work to fight for the arts. The summer squad is working on candidate surveys, capacity building, data analysis, financial analysis, graphic design, strategic planning, and records integrity and security.

Check out our Staff & Volunteer Page to learn more about the amazing folks that make this work a reality.
