Engage students’ passion and curiosity in and through the arts! ArtsEd Washington will present an interactive workshop on the recently adopted Washington State Arts Standards on April 30th  September 25, 2017, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at ESD 101 in Spokane. The workshop is designed to give educators tools, knowledge, and collaborative time to successfully enact these standards at the local level.

Developed by members of the State Arts Cadre who developed the state arts standards, this professional learning opportunity is for elementary generalists, K-12 dance, music, theater, and visual arts specialists, teaching artists, and educational leaders. Elementary generalists will explore how the new Washington State Arts Learning Standards can be integrated into current curricula to deepen student learning in all content areas. K-12 Arts specialists will use these standards as a lens to look at their current teaching practices and curriculum, and to brainstorm with colleagues creative and practical ways to implement the new standards. Teaching artists will learn about the new standards and be able to collaborate directly with teachers in developing engaging arts opportunities for students.

The workshop will be led by former ArtsEd Washington Program Director and K-12 Visual Arts Specialist Carrie Stroud; former Visual and Performing Arts & Events Coordinator for Spokane Public Schools David Weatherred; and Arts Integration Specialist Diane Garmire.

The $125 registration fee includes six clock hours.
