WSSDA Annual Conference Session: The Arts – A Strategy for Student Success

The Washington State School Directors Associationn’s (WSSDA) Annual Conference is November 14-17.
ArtsEd Washington Executive Director Una McAlinden and OSPI Program Supervisor for the Arts Anne Banks, along with local School Board Directors, present Hidden in Plain Sight: The Arts – A Strategy for Student Success; a session focusing on the arts as a tool for helping students succeed.
Attendees will learn from directly from school districts that are building their schools’ capacity to teach the arts, and will leave with action steps and an enhanced understanding of their role in ensuring the provision of this core subject to all students. Through a review of recent national reports on arts education and group discussion, participants will address ways they can build strong arts programs within their districts. Participants will also consider: progress being made in other districts; the equitable provision of the arts in their districts; and identify district-level action steps to build the arts as a strategy for student success.
School board members and district leaders strongly encouraged to attend.
