Seattle Teaching Artist Network Meeting
January 10, 2013 @ 4:45 pm - 7:15 pm
Topic: Professional Teaching Artists: Supporting Active Learning in the Museum Setting
4:45-5:00: initial meet and greet with snacks in the “Rec Room” EMPs group teaching space. Please invite your colleagues working in all sectors as teaching artists! EMPs education programs employ 10-15 teaching artists per year for in-museum classes, outreach classes in schools, as professional musicians/coaches for our S.T.A.R. youth ensembles program, and camp programs. We’d love to start a dialogue with you about your ideas for interactive arts learning in response to our exhibit content.
5:00 to 6:00: Explore the EMP galleries on your own, or join a special tour with one of our fabulous volunteer tour guides at 5:00 (Hendrix Hits London) and 5:30 (ICONS of Science Fiction)
6:00 to 7:15: Back in “Rec Room” for snacks with a group sharing/discussion on working as a professional teaching artist in a museum setting, challenges, curricular links, K-12 to adult. Please invite your colleagues to attend.
RSVP to attend at firstname.lastname@example.org
